Job Summary
The Design Engineer at Kform will be responsible for the design, prototyping, and testing of innovative products in a multidisciplinary environment that integrates mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and software engineering.
The Design Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring that products meet our high standards for performance, functionality, and quality. Candidates will be evaluated and placed into Level I, Level II, or Lead roles based on their experience and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop new products, creating detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software (primarily SolidWorks for MCAD and Altium for ECAD).
Participate in the prototyping phase by utilizing a variety of fabrication methods and tools to create physical models for evaluation and testing.
Develop and implement embedded software to integrate mechanical and electronic systems within product designs.
Conduct comprehensive testing and validation of prototypes, ensuring products meet rigorous standards for reliability, durability, and safety.
Document design changes, test results, and development processes for future reference and continuous improvement.
Collaborate cross-functionally with teams such as manufacturing, quality control, and research and development to optimize product performance and manufacturability.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance design processes, reduce costs, and improve product performance.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers, depending on the level of the role.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks for MCAD and Altium for ECAD).
Basic understanding of embedded software development and experience with integrating mechanical and electronic systems.
Familiarity with rapid prototyping techniques and hands-on experience with fabrication tools and equipment.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to develop innovative solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a precision manufacturing environment, particularly in the defense industry or a similarly regulated field.
Knowledge of quality management systems and an understanding of AS9100 standards.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Enthusiasm for learning and staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends.
Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in mechanical and electrical CAD software for developing complex design models and schematics.

Working Conditions
