Job Summary
A Machinist at Kform will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines to produce high-quality parts that meet strict specifications. This role requires advanced machining skills, problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in CNC programming. The Machinist plays a critical role in ensuring that machining operations are efficient, precise, and aligned with our commitment to excellence in precision defense manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, program, and operate CNC machines to produce parts according to detailed specifications and technical drawings.
Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues, making adjustments to processes and programs as necessary to ensure product quality.
Conduct in-process quality checks, using precision measuring instruments to verify that parts meet required tolerances and standards.
Mentor and train others, sharing knowledge and expertise to support their development and the overall success of the team.
Collaborate with engineering and quality control teams to optimize machining processes and ensure that all parts meet Kform quality standards and AS9100 requirements.
Maintain accurate records of machining operations, including setup parameters, production data, and inspection results.
Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines and other equipment to ensure they operate at peak efficiency.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance machining efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Minimum 2-3 years of machining experience, with a strong focus on CNC programming and operation.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T.
Strong understanding of machining processes and equipment, including lathes and mills.
Ability to perform quality checks using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s degree or technical certification in Machining, Manufacturing, or a related field.
Experience in precision defense manufacturing or a similar high-tolerance environment.
Advanced CNC programming skills, including experience with multi-axis machines.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex machining issues.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Skills and Abilities

Proficiency in CNC programming and operation, including the ability to modify programs for complex parts.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Working Conditions
Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and other elements.
Standing, walking, and working with machinery for extended periods.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
